Interior

The interior of this AMD powered SCAN 3XS Chameleon is just as interesting to look at, should you specify the watercooling and the interior paint job. Yes, SCAN paint the innards for you too if you ask. In this example, SCAN have used a UV-reactive paint that - when married to the installed UV cathode lighting of course - well, you get the idea.

With the J06 a faux BTX design, the mainboard sits at the bottom right instead of top left, and you take the right side panel off to have a peek, instead of the left. You can see that the chassis has been painted with the UV reactive paint and the watercooling equipment, from tubing to the separate radiator that cools the graphics loop, dominates the interior space. The downside of a system like the 3XS Chameleon is that the watercooling hardware makes things much less user upgradeable. Swapping out the graphics for something else for example would be a relative nightmare.

SCAN choose, wisely, AKASA fans for the chassis cooling. Two AKASA AK-183-L2Bs cool the graphics cards and exhaust hot air from the chassis with a pair of AK-182-L2Bs pushing air our of the top of the chassis, via the custom cut exhaust holes.

The hard disks are well labelled, cabling runs are tidied up nicely and the interior is clean, despite the busy appearance brought on by the watercooling hardware. SCAN's integrators do the job well. Powered on, the UV cathode lights the lot up.

The light show through the chameleon cut out is cute, especially in a really dark room. So nice to look at, but a bugger to upgrade if you want to get your hands dirty.
