We've always liked MSI's boxes. The sci-fi-related artwork certainly helps get you excited about what is, essentially, a big circuit board inside. Our apologies for the corner scuff marks, though. We love spaceships, and we got a bit over excited with the K9A Platinum.

We like the underside of MSI's boxes even more. Those detailed specs meant we could write half our review without even opening the packaging (I hope he's joking - ed.). They need to put some benchmark results on there too, though.

As we've come to expect from MSI, the K9A Platinum comes with a quality bundle, including rounded PATA and floppy cables.

MSI includes enough power and SATA cables for the full complement of hard disks, and also bundles brackets for an extra FireWire port and a pair of additional USB 2 ports. You will still need to provide your own brackets or use chassis connections to take advantage of the other two USB 2 headers on the motherboard, though. The SATA cables are also non-latching variety, although the motherboard's ports make for quite secure connections.
