Benchmarks II

Next up is DVD encoding into DivX using XMPEG v4.2 and the DivX5.02 CODEC. The benchmark is to encode 10,000 frames of the Three Kings DVD into its native resolution of 720x576. The black borders are cropped and no sound is encoded. YUV2 spacing is used.

The faster memory subsystem (PC2700) used by the P4X333 and SiS645DX pays dividends here with them taking out about one FPS over the PC2100-equipped I845E. This has to be tempered with the knowledge that the I845E, and the IT7 in particular, thrives at 133FSB and above.

Next up is the OcUK SETI benchmark, one with an Angle Ratio of 0.471, this one takes a while to complete.

Again, I'm using benchmarks that highlight the differences on chipsets because they rely heavily on a fast memory subsytem and low latency. Interestingly, the top two change places for the first time.
