Notes

We're comparing the performance of the Inno3D iChiLL 7900GS against an XFX Fatal1ty 7600GT - a heavily overclocked SKU that raises default speeds from 560/1400 to 650/1600, and whilst it's from a lower SKU series, its price, at around £100, makes it a worthwhile comparison card.

We've also added a default-clocked ASUS X1950 Pro, currently priced at around £116 and offering excellent value-for-money, as well as an HIS overclocked Radeon X1650 XT, again from a lower SKU series but priced at £100.

Benchmarks were conducted at 1280x1024 4xAA 8xAF and 1600x1200 no AA 8xAF. These are likely resolutions and image quality settings for midrange cards, and we've run the cards through three popular games.

As always, we ran each benchmark a trio of times and then calculated the arithmetic mean. If any of the three results looked erroneous, we threw all three away until we could collect three within a margin of statistical error. We report any major attempts needed to get three reliable results, of course. Apart from that, things are as noted on the graphs and in the graph commentary. Want to know more? So just how much performance do you receive for around £100 and is the iChiLL able to cut it against the X1950 Pro. Let's find out.
