Introduction

If GeForce 6800 boards aren't shipping to retail in quantity as I type this, it can't be far from being reality. With three retail 6800 Ultras in my office and a triplet of reference boards lined up for testing (god bless PCI Express), a recent comment on an internet forum that only 100 6800s exist in the world seems a little off. That I could have 6% of a worldwide total is a bit wide of the mark. They're shipping. Shipping late, yes, but shipping nonetheless. If you've got a board on back order, expect it soon.

With that said, focus turns to the retail boards supplied by our friendly board partners, boards that consumers want in their hands now. With Gainward's almighty water-cooled version getting the review treatment recently, indeed the review went out live yesterday, my focus turns to XFX's example.

XFX aren't a company who's products we usually see in the U.K. Indeed it's the first XFX board we've ever convered at HEXUS, but hopefully not the last. With XFX making the jump into the European retail space in a big way with their 6800 products, and many a gamer making an XFX pre-order, it's the XFX board review that many will be waiting for.

The fact that XFX do things just a little differently from the competition, in terms of presentation and value for the gamer, makes the board examination all the more interesting.
