Bundle and Presentation

Arriving in the same giant cardboard box and slip that the 5950 CoolFX boards did, it's a huge set of packaging weighing the wrong side of 5 kilos.

Gainward's cute little girl graces the box art yet again, a somewhat pleasing distraction from all the robotic creatures you usually see.

The main bundle contents are exactly what you need to get the CoolFX setup and working. Tubing, elbow connectors, tie wraps, power splitters and a pair of DVI-to-VGA convertors are the main items. The manual is succinct and to the point. I'm not sure that any more hand holding is necessary, but it would possibly be nice to see a little more description in places.

The radiator takes a supplied 119x119x25mm Papst 4412 F / 2GM fan, a 2400rpm fan that moves 82.4cfm at 38dBA. I'm actually inclined to believe it's a little quieter than that, but more on that later.

The reservoir is a simple red plastic affair with a port for the pump and an inlet port at the top for returning coolant. Capacity for the whole system is just over 1 litre, including volume stored in the tubing and other conduits.

The pump is the same Eheim pump used in the 5950 CoolFX kit.

Let's put it all together.
