Sapphire first unleashed reference-beating Vapor-X-based coolers for a select range of Radeon cards with the HD 3870 ATOMIC and TOXIC editions, released at the start of last year.

Designed to outperform the reference heatsink in both thermal and aural performance, Vapor-X is now back - better than ever, claims Sapphire - on Radeon HD 4850 and HD 4870 cards.

We first take a look at the mid-range Sapphire HD 4850 512MB Vapor-X, to see if there's significant merit in porting the cooler over to the volume-selling part.
