PowerColor RADEON X800 XL 512MB Graphics Card

We recently saw the introduction of video cards equipped with 512MB local memory. Considering today's GPUs, the question that we asked was whether having a larger framebuffer offset the cost of implementing double the 256MB of video memory that's prevalent on mid-to-high end cards now. The answer, in pure benchmark terms, appeared to be no, even when modern games were tested at high resolutions and with extra image enhancement applied.

That's not stopped PowerColor from being one of the first to release a 512MB video card based on ATI's RADEON X800 XL GPU. It's also released with a design twist, so it's already an interesting product. Let's dive in and see if it's worth nearly £300 of your money.
