Intel Core i5 661

HEXUS was provided with an Intel Core i5 661 chip and H55 board for evaluation purposes. The chip clocks in at a default 3.33GHz and is able to Turbo Boost to 3.60GHz if only one core is active. Remembering from the table on page six, it's the odd Clarkdale chip because it has a higher TDP, 87W, and the IGP clocked in at 900MHz.

But you would never know it looking at the engineering-sample model.

The rear is a standard LGA1156 layout - the same as the Core i5 750, Core i7 860, and Core i7 870 Lynnfield-based CPUs. Take a look at one those CPUs and you'll note that it is different - no doubt due to the integrated graphics here.

Here are a few CPU-Z shots highlighting the chip's characteristics.

Under one-click Turbo Boost load.

Idling along.

Half of a Lynnfield chip's cache, then.
