External Appearance – Front

They say first impressions are everything and the Zero does pretty well. Its mixture of high-gloss black and brushed aluminium makes for a good-looking front panel that features a translucent window in the upper section. A single power button and power LED is set into the aluminium with blue LED-lit accents both top and bottom.

Tipping the scales at 7.36kg the Zero can be considered light, especially with large-ish proportions, measuring in at 210mm (W) x 532mm (H) x 520mm (D).

Just under the etched NZXT logo is the where the Zero's door finishes. We observed that the hard-to-photograph, high-gloss plastic door was prone to smudges and fingerprints and, frankly, a little bit cheap to the touch.

Behind the door are five 5.25in and two 3.5in drive bays, each hidden behind more shiny plastic. The reset for the system, hidden behind the door, is another aluminium button, just like the power switch on the front.

The location of the front-mounted ports is a little annoying; We don’t know why manufacturers seem to keep putting them on the side of a chassis, on the right in this case, as the door opens left-to-right and the chassis will normally reside on the right-hand side of your workstation.
