There has been no love loss between Intel and NVIDIA this past week, and the latter now claims it's well on the way to developing a variant of its ION platform that'll support VIA's Nano processor.
Speaking to Chinese-newspaper Digitimes, NVIDIA president Jen-Hsun Huang has stated that the Nano-supporting ION platform is already in development and on course for a 2009 launch.
The proposed platform's finer details remain unknown, but a combination of VIA's low-power 64-bit processors and NVIDIA's GeForce 9400-based chipset could prove to be a potent combination that may challenge Intel's dominant Atom.
NVIDIA is no stranger to working closely with VIA, and was quick to show its support for Nano processors back at COMPUTEX 2008. The ION platform could, just could, be VIA's only means to making inroads against Intel's Atom in the ultra-portable space.

NVIDIA's goal is to give the consumer choice to pair an ION GPU with their preferred CPU. In this vein, ION will support multiple CPUs including Intel Atom and VIA Nano.
