ASUS' collaboration with Lamborghini for a range of ultra-chic, ostentatious laptops took another turn with the public showing of the VX5.

Dropping the now-familiar yellow for either a black or ivory colour scheme, the VX5 is more than just style over substance.

Packed under the hood is an Intel Core 2 Quad chip, 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 16in full-HD display, NVIDIA GeForce GTS 130M graphics card with 1GB on-board memory, a Blu-ray drive, and massive storage courtesy of a 1TB laptop drive. The killer here is that it's an SSD from the folks at pureSilicon.

Scary specs mean that it won't be cheap, but, boy, does it look good.

3.3kg of laptop lovin'. There may be faster laptops out there but few have quite the jaw-dropping appeal as the VX5, and if a hands-on play is anything to go by, start filling in those lottery tickets now.

I'm always a bit sceptical about buying a laptop with an SSD simply because there're some rubbish SSDs out there still, and I'd rather make the choice about which manufacturer/model etc I want in there and not end up with a cheap one slower than a regular hard drive.
Of course, they may give this information, and a choice, but still..
A tad more impressive than the Acer/Ferrari range.

No Tarinder, just no. It looks awful. Really, i love the specs (most droolworthy), but if they could resist their urges and not put leather and a tacky plastic bezel around the keyboard it would do them a world of good. And please, i know this is the Lambo model, but inlet vents near the speakers? :P

It's like the way car companies try to make perfume and fountain pens!
