Any doubts as to whether ASUS had lost sight of the Eee PCs promise of low-cost computer systems could soon be put to rest with the launch of Ultimate and Pro Fashion models.

According to reports, these new high-end models will launch in 2008 and will feature dual-core Atom processors and 32GB SSDs or 120GB HDDs.

ASUS is believed to be preparing one particular model for launch in September, this yet-to-be-titled Eee will feature a 10.1in LED-backlit screen with a 16:9 ratio and battery life of four to five hours. The device is said to be priced between $700 and $900, and will be one of many Eee PCs to target the high-end market.

We're struggling to keep track of Eee PC product launches, but a few factors appear to remain consistent; Eee PCs are getting bigger, better, and more expensive.

Still, with the undoubted success of the Eee brand, who can blame ASUS for adding to its current line-up?

So long as they keep the 701-type range at 701-type prices, I've no problems. It's been such a success it was always going to end up as a brand within itself anyway.
So long as they keep in models from £200 and continue to sell models for all budgets and desires then I see little problem with them introducing high end models…

If people have the money to spend then they are free to buy whatever product they like!

The usual idiotic troll post proclaiming that the EEE range is pointless because Dell sell a £250 Vostro will crop up very soon no doubt…
It's just a shame you can't actually buy them as there seems to be only 3 people working in the factories making them and 5000 designing them.
what exactly does the eee brand mean? they're stamping it on everything now…
You could say the same about the VAIO brand, but it's been a relative success considering since inception it's been staggeringly overpriced. Brand is everything. I just don't think the Eee brand has been around long enough for them to build on it in the way they seem to be trying.
