Graphics card and mobo maker EVGA has today announced a new 7950 GT SKU that ships with higher than reference clock speeds on both core and memory.
The e-GeForce 7950 GT KO Superclocked comes with a 600MHz GPU clock and 725MHz on the GDDR3 memory. Compared with reference clocks of 550MHz/700MHz, that's a boost of 9% to core and 4% to memory. Quite conservative bumps, then. Still, it's lead EVGA to proclaim that they now have the fastest 7950 GT on the market.
The 7950 GT also comes with HDCP support, although it only has dual-link DVI ports, no HDMI, so an appropriate HD display will be required for display of protected content.
The RRP of the 7950 GT KO Superclocked is €359, which puts it about £30 more expensive than the actual selling price of current 'standard' 7950 GTs, after a currency conversion. Seeing as it's quite likely that most 7950 GTs will go as high as EVGA has pushed theirs, we're not sure the card is worth the premium, but it depends on whether you like to tinker yourself, or would rather have something that's guaranteed to work.
