Major Taiwanese component manufacturer ECS, most famous for their mainboards and mainboard production facilities for other vendors, is to enter the graphics board market with a range of products based on NVIDIA GPUs.

Carrying the three new G71- and G73-based SKUs launched yesterday, along with a range of products on AGP and PCI Express from GeForce FX 5200 upwards, ECS look set to stamp their mark on the market, from high-volume, low-end, right the way up to the enthusiast.

They have their own manufacturing facility for the boards in Europe, allowing them to bypass any costs associated with board purchase from another ODM, such as Flextronics, which should help them stay competetive with end user pricing.

We'll have review samples to test as soon as production ramps up. ECS entering any market is big news, simply because of their size, so maybe this announcement will give some of the established players something to think about.

Obligatory stand shot follows, enjoy.
