Here at HEXUS, we've already seen - and liked - Radeon HD 4890 cards with a GPU clocked at 1GHz, but MSI is today joining the scene with its R4890 Cyclone SOC.
The card, pictured below, is the range-topping component of MSI's all-new R4890 Cyclone series. Out the box, it'll feature a GPU clocked at a whopping 1,000MHz and 1GB of GDDR5 memory running at an effective 4,000MHz - that's not quite as quick as Sapphire's ATOMIC, it's but still mighty potent.
In addition to souped-up frequencies, MSI's touting bigger-and-better everything. The card comes equipped with four extra-thick 8mm heatpipes and an extra-large 100mm PWM fan. That combo should ensure "the operating environment is quiet and cool", says MSI.
As you'd expect from such a high-end offering, MSI's also praising its use of military-class components, including Hi-C CAPs, a solid-state choke and solid capacitors.
What's useful, we reckon, is that MSI's card provides a choice of DVI, VGA or HDMI connectivity. Sadly, there's no mention of pricing or availability just yet.
