Scandinavian design and Chinese manufacturing: the good-looking budget chassis?

What do you get when you fuse Scandinavian design with Chinese manufacturing? No, it's not a joke, either.

Designed by Loop, the Noir chassis takes a slightly different approach to low-cost case design.

Effectively sitting on top of a steel chassis of undeniably budget origins, the Noir uses a wraparound plastic shell to create a mini tower that looks - and feels - a touch more expensive than the ~$29 price (sans PSU) the company would charge if selling to the public.

Rather, Loop is focussing on the OEM market, and if one particular MESH Computers representative's appearance on the stand is anything to go by, expect to see a Noir derivative in their range this summer.

The plastic is cut in such a way that the buttons themselves are pushed and thus make contact with the microswitches underneath. The overall effect is one that's slightly quirky.

The flat top is perfect for placing peripherals and USB-charged devices, according to the firm's CEO, and that's why you see the rear-facing port on the very top.

Would you buy this chassis if it was retailing for, say, £29? Or is it just too tacky for your liking? As always, comments are welcome.

Doesnt seem to have much in the way of coolong features but i would definately consider it (in black) for a basic build.
Looks quite nice actually, want to see some inside pics now.
Would look pretty good, throw in the new republic of gamers mATX board + HD4830 and you would have yourself a a semi decent i7 gaming system that could be quite easy to lug about to lan partys.
I agree with Biscuit, needs to be available in black. Were they trying to be ironic by calling it ‘Noir’ and showcasing it in white? Other than that, quite a nice looking case.
I think it looks great, especially for such a low price! Although I must admit I would prefer a different colour, dark metallic purple/blue would look damn sexy, mind you I would settle for black :)
