PRESS RELEASE

After installation the memory card can be used for photos or music; Fewer resources required for transportation and packaging

London, 22 March 2011 - Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac (www.parallels.com/desktop), the No. 1 selling and award-winning software for running Windows and Mac applications side-by-side without rebooting, is from now also the first virtualization software available on SD memory cards. A great advantage for customers is that after the installation they can use the 4 GB memory card for other purposes, for example, to exchange data via SD card slots between Macs, as a storage card in digital cameras or in MP3 players. Nearly all new Apple computers come with a built-in SD card reader, including the MacBook Air which does not have an internal DVD drive anymore.

Great additional value for Parallels customers

"With the SD memory card Parallels customers benefit from additional value compared to a single-purpose DVD; they can continue using the SD memory card with their Mac, digital camera and more after the installation of Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac. An additional benefit for MacBook Air customers is that they can install Parallels Desktop by simply inserting the software into their computer's SD card slot without having to purchase or attach an external DVD drive," said Kim Johnston, Vice President of Marketing for Parallels. "The environmental benefits are important to us as well. Its low weight and space-saving packaging saves resources in the manufacturing process and transportation."
