Another price spot for HTC's Desire S smartphone suggests consumers could be able to get their hands on the phone sooner than expected.

According to a blog post on tech retailer Clove's website, spotted by Unwired, the latest iteration of HTC's best-selling Desire handset will arrive in the last week of March.

The Android Gingerbread handset that was unveiled at MWC has a refreshed aluminium design, 1GHz Snapdragon Processor, 3.7 inch touchscreen, 1.1GB internal storage and HD video recording capabilities among other features.

It is available to pre-order from Clove's website for £406.80 including VAT.

Mobile-device.biz has previously reported that the handset was due to launch on 18 April and since there has been no official date set, it is hard to know which of the dates seen on the various etailers' websites is correct.

The Desire S is currently available for pre-order via Expansys' website for £399 and via Amazon for the same price. Interestingly both sites still have the launch date listed as 18 April.

While the price is gradually falling for the unlocked Desire S, it will be interesting to see how well the handsets compete with other arguably more exciting offerings hitting the market, such as Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play and LG's Optimus 3D.

Furthermore, HTC devotes might still be tempted to snap up a Desire HD, which is marginally cheaper than the Desire S' current list price and boasts an 8MP camera, surround sound and a bigger screen.
