Huge world to explore

The storyline isn't too far removed from anything you've played before. But it's not the tale itself, well written as it is that makes it feel special. The pacing is much more akin to that of a single player game in the early going, drawing you into your character and lavishing you with cut scenes and voice acting to flesh out the story before sending you out on any major adventures. It makes a refreshing change from the usual group exploration and makes you feel important in your own right, rather than one of many which makes sense for the character. Later in the game the voice acting and cut scenes disappear but the text is very well written, even if it's for fetch quests and combat missions that would usually feel cliched.

Of course there's all the usual trimmings on top of what I've mentioned as well. Conan has 12 distinct races, all with their own strengths and weakness's. Along with in depth character creation, huge open area's to explore and a world that feels like every part of it is tied together which is a rare thing indeed.

Being an expansion pack, Rise of the Godslayer isn't exactly geared towards newcomers to the game. Most of the content is specifically for those that reached the level cap long ago. There are no new classes or higher level cap on offer though, instead players are given five new area's to explore. All of them bigger than any of the area's based on the new continent of Khitai. And a new "Alternate Advancement" system, but more on that later.
