E3 - 2006 : AFTERMATH :: Sadness for Wii - Over 21's only

Sadness

HEXUS.E3 Nibris has released the first teaser trailer for Sadness, an exclusive game for new console Nintendo Wii. Realised with use of cinematic technique by one of polish most talented film creators (Stanislaw Maderek – well known from his cult Star Wars Parody “Stars in Black”) teaser is only a presentation of some of the ideas that they are going to use in the final game.

“For understandable reasons we could not present all of ideas that we wanted to put in a final game. Also an atmosphere will be slightly different – the film presents mainly action while the game itself will be focusing more on climate and internal experiences of Sadness of chief characters” states Peter Or³owski, Nibris PR.

Teaser shows Maria, one of two main characters in game that player will be able to control. The second one, that will probably be something new in a horror genre, will be presentet later.

Sadness is a game for adult gamers with strong nerves. The game will include of variety of illnesses such as schizophrenia, narcolepsy and nycto nyctophobia. Sabotage will maintain convention known from noir film genre.

The title will be totally black and white – like a sadness. We will do everything to not only make the gamer feel like they watching a normal film, but also to really become one of its characters” states Marek “Omen” Okon, visual artist and Sadness concept arts creator.

The action will take place before year 1914 (World War I beginning) in Ukraine. Adam Artur Antolski said, “Ukraine means at the border. Some time ago this land was a border between Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Russian Empire and Ottoman Empire. This is the reason for Ukraine to be some sort of melting pot of several different cultures of east and west. This internal pluralism results in totally unique country beliefs of the people from that part of the world.”

The First World War is some sort of boundary – this war was one of the greatest disasters of Europe civilization that changed scoiety. Mentality the people of the period demanded secretiveness of internal problems, both psychic and life. In this type of community chances of developing schizophrenia were pretty large. It was after the war that psychoanalyze was created, customs become relaxed and people started to own up to their problems.

The style of the game will not correspond to Sin City movie; it will also not have the style of a comic. It is rather a tribute to pre-World War I cinema and it will have similar atmosphere.

I'm not sure, it's not opening for me. I'm sure it's nothing rude. I think it might be scarey though!
Worked for me - and though im working from home today its deffo work safe. It looks ok, could be interesting I guess. Almost reminds me of the old laser disk games for some reason.
