If easily offended by cartoon blood, look away now.

Rising Star Games are afraid that their latest title, No More Heroes, will receive the same fate as ManHunt 2 in Europe if they leave the game unedited and try to get it past the UK's BBFC censors. They're not willing to take that risk and therefore the sword-slashing Wii title will be edited for European release, so we'll be treated to the same version that Japanese gamers have, with less violence and less blood.

Okay, so you can chop heads off and slice people in two, but the graphics are hardly photo-realistic, it's animé after all.

This is just one of the trailers to have been released in the last year. If easily offended, by cartoon blood, don't watch it.
No More Heroes tells the story of Travis Touchdown, an animé fan who lives in the fictional town of Santa Destroy, California. After an unexpected turn of events, Travis finds himself being approached by the head hunter of an assassins’ organisation. Travis is challenged to prove himself worthy by defeating ten other bloodthirsty killers – all with deep stories of their own – to make his way to the top of the assassins’ league.

It seems that the BBFC tactics, their recent refusal of ManHunt 2 and the increasingly strict ratings system are already making developers think twice about the violence that they use in their games. Rising Star Games aren't even going send the original uncut version to them, they're just going to assume that it wouldn't pass.

Let's hope others don't do the same.

after manhunt 2, and rule of rose, companies have to tread carefully or wipe out an entire country as potential customers
