Battlefield 3 first public hands-on at i43

The long wait for fans of the Battlefield franchise to get their hands on the latest installment of DICE’s flagship shooter is almost over. Electronic Arts has today confirmed that Battlefield 3 will be playable at the LAN event "insomnia43" which takes place on the August Bank Holiday, 26th-29th August at the Telford International Centre.

The event also hosts some of the biggest tournaments in the U.K. and offers cash prizes to the winners. There are also developer talks, demo’s and free to play tournaments throughout the weekend.

First? I've played a BF3 alpha multiplayer build at Dreamhack back in June!

I loved it. Played the Operation Metro map with the Rush game mode. To keep it short (I could write about it for ages!) The map we played was more similar to a normal BC2 Rush map but it scaled massively, going from open parks to underground darkness. I just wish i could of played on a 64 player map with jets.

Playability wise EA have taken the best things from BF2 and BC2 and combined them with some nifty new things to make a truly brilliant game. Knife's have been totally reworked for example as you can both equip it for a one knife kill or use the quick knife button similar to BC2 but that takes two stabs to kill.

I love how the DICE employee's were there not only to showcase what they had done but to take in our responses and criticisms. Much has changed since i played it and the latest trailer, mostly the UI side of things but overall it all looks very promising and i can't wait for the beta.

I too am looking forward to it but I hope it's not to much like BC2 as I didnt get along with it ! Not sure why but the shooting some one & having to use 2 mags was one big thing for me, also the feel of it felt like CS:S !!! :rolleyes:

May see you on the battlefield so day ? :rockon:


PS - What part of Cornwall you from if you dont mind me asking ?

No worries, i think DICE have cracked the perfect balance between the two. For one you can kill people with a few bullets now and not waste mag's which i also hated in BC2.

P.S: I live in Torpoint lol, small world.

P.S 2: My solider name on BF3 will be Merson (As it is on BC2) unless something tragic happens else it will be Merson316. So feel free to add me on either. :)
