Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 has been receiving high review scores across the board from most gaming websites since its launch this week, but user review scores and comments made by some of the gaming community suggest that the PC version isn't worthy of such adulation.

Review aggregation site, Metacritic, currently rates Modern Warfare 2 89% according to critic reviews, however users can also submit their scores and comment. Users have rated the shooter just 13%, based on 981 votes.

The biggest complaint appears to be aimed at the multiplayer component.

Lack of dedi [dedicated] server has destroyed this game for me, the ability to play the game at a high level competitively or in leagues/competitions is impossible. I can understand why for a console but PC gamers have much higher expectations when it comes to multiplayer, I suppose the publishers don't care as most sales come from consoles.

Other posters believe that Infinity Ward has messed up on a number of issues, including lack of features and the reduction of players in multiplayer matches.

Jacob B rated the game 1/10:
It's a short, predictable, generic, shadow of an FPS that pales in comparison to it's predecessors. The multiplayer aspect is just as dull as its singleplayer . The lack of dedicated servers, small player capacities, and lack of access to console commands renders the game unenjoyable and almost unplayable. The poorest showing by far from one of my favorite game series.

Mike M gave it 0:
IW definitely released a dud with this game. Pure console port of a game that was already terrible, the lack of features is astounding. Compared to the first MW, we've reduced multiplayer capacity by 18 players, lost dedicated servers (matchmaking now averages each player to around 150 ping), leaning was removed, among other atrocities. This is an abomination among PC games and is a sad harbinger of things to come in the inevitable fall of PC gaming.

Harold T gave it 0:
A waste of time releasing this on the PC, it comes with the cancer wart which is Steam which you are forced to install. Then they removed all the features (modding/dds) that the previous game had. 4 steps back, 1 step forward. Get the console version, avoid this like the plague.

We'll publish our Modern Warfare 2 review later this week.

Note: We would like to point out that this is specifically relating to the PC version. Console scores are very high across the board.

PC Gamers still upset at emasculation of MW2 - News at 11.
Well yeah, it's exactly what valve got in trouble for recently, and they spent a long time improving their ‘console style’ system of joining games..

Personally, I don't care, but it really is annoying having totally random green bars to designate your lag.

Talk about port..
Fanboys giving the rest of us a bad image.

I'd agree that MW2 isn't up to the standard that MW1 set by some way, especially the multiplayer ‘issues’. But it's a long way off the 1s and 0s those guys are giving it.
I had COD4 on PS3 and now have MW2 on PS3. I ain't complaining :D

They did mess up multiplayer on PC but saying ‘lack of features’ means you have no idea what you are talking about!

I havent bought the game for PC or console (yet) so can't comment on how the game plays. Although a few dutch guys I know have played it and say its great, so the low scores from PC people are probably just sad people spitting their dummies out, whom have nothing better to do.
