Late August 2008 is when we can expect the next instalment in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise to arrive and to keep us on tenterhooks over the summer period, Deep Silver has released some new information.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky is set one year before the events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl at a time when Zone terrotories are scoured by groups of s.t.a.l.k.e.r.s warring over territoties. As a mercentary called scar, you find yourself thrown into the battle over land, power and artifacts.

The developer says it has concentrated on creating a sinister atmosphere and with DX10 support (will also work with DX9 and 10) will include variable weather conditions, life-like animations and detailed landscapes.

The AI has apparently been enhanced and it will make independent situation-based decisions that impact the further course of the game. Only in the last few levels is the player guided towards a given end of the story, which leads to the events described in Shadow of Chernobyl.

STALKER SoC is still getting some good playtime for me and I'm really looking forward to Clear Sky.
Just hope they get some of the gameplay issues sorted! For example, if you die and reload, the enemies still retain their “Active” state and someone you were sneaking up on will spin around and shoot you for no reason.

Not to mention the totally non-sensical “repeatable” missions. It's kinda annoying to get handed the same mission again.
Anyone know the release date for this?
I'm playing through the first one in preparation for Clear Sky, I can't wait!

BTW, it's only £13.99 to pre-order at powerplaydirect.com
Release date is 29th August and thats a good price :)
Can't wait for this and maybe it will work on vista 64 bit :/ Still playing the first one through for the nth time and I love it, just a shame it will only load maybe twice out of ten tries on vista :( Shame there is no co-op mod in this version as that would of been the icing on the cake. Set up a faction with your mates and play through the campaign, heard rumours this was going to be included but looks like it didn't make it :(
