Speedball 2 – Tournament, the ferocious and extreme sports game for PC, is now available in stores. In a violent future, two heavily armoured teams fight a vicious battle for possession of a steel ball. Take control of a brutal squad of athletes and punch your way through the opposition, pounding players to the ground as you go, using any malicious tactics to win the game.3D graphics enhance the brutal gameplay as the adrenaline races and your customised team of ‘speedballers’ battle with the opposition. The extreme online multiplayer action lets you face your friends, or enemies online with a chance to climb the leagues and international rankings to become the Speedball 2 champion.
The gameplay will be familiar to anyone who played the futuristic sport's game, with the story behind the sport being the same as the original Amiga version. The first Speedball league, founded in 2095, fails due to violence and corruption. As the organisation gave place to anarchy, the game is forced underground, but five years later, from one attempt to regain public interest, Speedball 2 is born.
Click for larger imageThe developer has tried to stay as close to the original as possible, with a small field where 9 players on each team fight brutally, like futuristic gladiators, in order to pick up the speedball and score in the designated areas. Unlike the original, there are team management options similar to what we see in football titles. There are also three classes to choose from, male (power), female (speed) and cyborg (tough), each having different strengths and weaknesses. Each player will also be able to customise their team with a choice of pre-designed logos.
