Currently in talks?

Vivendi has teamed up with Activision to form Activision Blizzard, last year EA were said to be pondering the acquisition of Ubisoft, and now it's rumoured that Midway are in talks to merge with SCi Entertainment Group PLC, which would include its subsidiary, Eidos.

Both companies were in preliminary talks regarding a deal in 2003, but nothing materialised and in November 2007 SCi made it public that they were open to offers for the company.

The merger would give both companies broader financial scope for the future, allow them to invest more money in their games and battle for a bigger market share of an intensely competitive industry.

SCi's current portfolio contains a number of popular franchises, including Tomb Raider, Hitman, Commandos, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Thief, and Fear Effect, whereas Midway have the likes of Unreal Tournament, The Wheelman and Strangelhold amongst their big hitters.

Although the rumour hasn't been confirmed, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes that the move would be a wise one and would enhance SCi's European standing.

I used to love SCi as a kid - SWIV 3D wasted many hours of my childhood :)….lets not forget the uproar that Carmageddon caused either.
