Mike Morhaime joins Peter Molyneux and others
The eleventh inductee into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) videogame Hall of Fame has today been named as the CEO and co-Founder of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime . He joins a prestigious list ,which includes the likes of Richard Garriot from NCsoft, Will Wright of Maxis, Peter Molyneux and Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo.Morhaime's studio is behind the epic World of Warcraft series, but also developed the Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft series. "This is a great honor, and I'm proud to receive it," said Morhaime. "The success that Blizzard Entertainment has had over the years would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and support of players around the world, and the passion and dedication of our employees, so I thank all of them for contributing to this achievement."
Dr. Ray Muzyka, CEO of BioWare Corp.will present Morhaime with his award at an event in Las Vegas on 7th December.
Since its inception in 1996, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has relied on the leadership and direction of its board of directors. These men and women, all leaders of the interactive software industry, have volunteered their time and resources to help the Academy advance its mission of promoting awareness of the art and science of interactive games and entertainment.
