If Intel's erroneous silicon has left your upcoming system build in a state of limbo, you might have considered switching your colours from Intel blue to AMD green.

Aware of that possibility, AMD is doing its best to lure new customers by cutting the cost of its flagship Phenom II processors, and now by throwing in a cash-back incentive to anyone buying specific combinations of its Phenom processors and Radeon graphics cards.

The promotion, running up until March 31st, entitles UK consumers to £20 cash back when they purchase one of the following CPU + GPU combinations from a participating retailer:

Combination 1
Mandatory CPU One or more of the following GPUs
AMD Phenom II X6 1090 + AMD Radeon HD 6970
AMD Radeon HD 6950
AMD Radeon HD 6870
Combination 2
Mandatory CPU One or more of the following GPUs
AMD Phenom X6 1100 + AMD Radeon HD 6970
AMD Radeon HD 6950
AMD Radeon HD 6870

UK retailers ebuyer.com, novatech.co.uk, dabs.com and cclonline.co.uk are all taking part in the promotion, as are a number of retailers across the continent - where cash back is valued at €25.

It isn't the best-value promotion we've ever seen, but it's certainly worth knowing about if you're contemplating picking up any of the above six combinations. All the details, including an online claim form, can be found at amd-promotions.com.

If it was just the GFX card, I would be tempted. But with a Phenom CPU, meh!
no scan?
Better than nothing which is what you used to get.:surprised:
NICE DEAL but cant take it as already got a 1055t so no point changing it. Am so tempted by the 6950 the missus has said she'll put £100 towards a card for my birthday so selling my 5850 i could get one but if i do it wanna get a revision one so can flash it and dont really wanna spend more than £200
