Gadgets and girls as popular as ever
Google's annual Zeitgeist, a report that analyses billions of search queries, has been published and it comes as little surprise to see Apple's iPhone top the list of fastest rising search items.
Hugely popular websites Facebook and YouTube also made the list of global search items in third and sixth place respectively. In second place came badoo, a website which I must confess to having never heard of. Naturally, I Googled it...
Google's most popular news search of the year belonged to American Idol and was closely followed by celebrities Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith and Paris Hilton. Clearly too many young boys use Google. In entertainment, Heroes tops the list for TV shows and Transformers holds top spot for movies.
In terms of gadgets, Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox remained popular throughout the year with Sony's Playstation 3 lagging behind. HD-DVD proved to be more popular than Blu-Ray, in terms of search queries at least, and both formats have seen a steady increase throughout the year.
With much of the fanfare surrounding Apple's iPhone now behind us, it's anyones guess as to what may be the most searched for item in 2008. Share your thoughts on 2007's list and indeed your predictions for 2008 in the HEXUS forums.
