Another year and another FIFA Interactive World Cup. With a grand price of $20,000 dollars, the best gamers from across the globe will be battling it out for one of 32 places at the grand final held in Berlin, May 2008.

The UK qualification event, expected to take place in March - April 2008, leaves UK gamers plenty of time to perfect their footballing skills.

Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho is at the forefront of promoting the tournament and in an official press release states "The FIFA Interactive World Cup is a fantastic opportunity for all football fans to show off their skills and passion for the sport with FIFA 08. It is a great tournament in which you have to train and work hard to succeed - just like in real football - so I invite all fans to register and enjoy this party of interactive football."

You heard it right football fans, you need to train your thumbs hard - just like in real football!

In order to participate in the online qualification tournament, players need to register for a Club account and sign-in at FIFA.com. Once signed in, click on "My Services", enter your PlayStation Network ID at the bottom of the page in the FIFA Interactive World Cup section and hit save. After registration, every game you play on the PlayStation Network will count toward your overall Confederation standings. Head over to the official website for further information on how to participate online.

As we reported earlier, the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2008 will this time be exclusive to the PlayStation Network. Though the last tournament proved successful on Xbox Live, players of FIFA 08 on the Xbox 360 have been left out this time around.
