Be a part of Football history

For the first time in football history, over 20,000 members of MyFootballClub.co.uk have each contributed £35 to provide the £700,000 in funds required to takeover Ebbsfleet United FC. Upon completion of the deal, expected to be finalised in a few weeks, the website will claim a 51% controlling stake and each MyFootballClub member will own an equal share in the club.

Most remarkable however is the communities plans for running the club with each member said to have "the opportunity to take control of a professional football club". Members will own the club through their MyFootballClub Trust, discuss takeover progress with other members on a private forum, cast crucial votes to shape the football club's future and be part of a community that will make football history.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Ebbsfleet chairman Jason Botley said "We are united in believing this is a great opportunity, this extra finance and support will enable our club to progress".

Ebbsfleet United FC, currently 9th in the Conference are one promotion away from reaching the Football League for the first time in its history.

I like the idea. In fact, I would have thought about contributing.
yeah - I agree Steve W. Wicked idea. It can only be good for the club - more money, more fans and we all get a chance to contribute.

i've just signed up with ThePeoplesClub.com who are doing the same thing. I'm a Bournemouth supporter and it would be awesome if we could buy the club and run it ourselves!
I'm sad to see this happen, whilst it looks a noble venture, will the novelty wear off and Ebbsfleet suffer?

I'd love to be proven wrong, but something doesn't sit right about the setup. I'm fully behind fan ownership, but this isn't the way I'd like to see it. Maybe people think it's a step up from playing Football Manager, but there's a thousand people with whom you're now messing with their club.

I quite enjoyed my trip to Ebbsfleet last season, shame we got kicked out after beating them there in the Trophy!:)
