The Shelby GT500KR, a.k.a. KITT

The car lovers over at Jalopnik.com have revealed the first pictures of the car that'll be used in the new Knight Rider TV series. Yep, the new KITT.

Turning away from the unforgettable Pontiac Trans Am, producers of the new show have turned to a Ford Shelby GT500KR. We're sure a healthy cheque from the powers at Ford had some part to play.

Jalopnik state that "Sources with the involved companies tell us this is the real car - the actual car to be used in the show. But, because it wasn't working at the effects studio yesterday, someone did photoshop the red light". Not a great start for the new KITT, that hypnotic red light is a must!

As a fan of the old series, any change of car was going to be hard for me to swallow. What really tickles me though are those two giant grey stripes down the middle of the car. KITT is an all black car, it was born to be that way. Even The Hoff can't be too happy with this one.

Head on over to Jalopnik.com to see more pictures of the new KITT and be sure to drop by our forums to let us know what you think.

what a stupid choice

then again, kitt has got fat so the american viewers will relate to it more
I don't care about the car change as long as it still goes “whom whom”.
Bah, it doesn't look right at *all* :(

hehehehe! That made me chuckle! :)

Seems as though we're generally not happy with the choice of car, but if the car had to be changed from the old Pontiac, which other new car would you guys suggest?

Personally I think KITT needs to be really low and sleek with sharp edges. Off the top of my head, I'd go for a black Lambo:

That with the red light across the front and I certainly wouldn't complain!
And then the police could chase after in these…

Red lights, blue lights - it'll all be so pretty!
