Andrew Clack of Panasonic, Peter Evans of Sony, Dr Kirstie McIntyre of HP and Professor Ab Stevels of Philips will be questioned by the Committee on what steps the electronics industry is taking to reduce waste particularly at the product design stage. They will also be asked about their companies’ use of recycled materials in their products.

The inquiry into waste reduction was launched by the Science and Technology Committee in August 2007 and they have received written evidence from a wide range of witnesses. The Committee is particularly interested in how products and production processes can be made more sustainable and so produce less waste.

The evidence session with the electronics manufacturers will take place at 11.10am on Tuesday 29 January, in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords. The witness’s full details are:
·       Mr Andrew Clack, Environmental Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility Advisor, Panasonic UK.
·       Mr Peter Evans, Senior Manager: Environment, Sony UK.
·       Dr Kirstie McIntyre, Head of Takeback Compliance, Hewlett Packard.
·       Professor Ab Stevels, Environmental Advisor, Philips Consumer Electronics.
