What a disgrace! The summer of many an England fan has been ruined tonight thanks to Steve McClaren and his England team who got knocked out of the European qualifiers by Croatia by three goals to two.

In the BBC studio (where they like to remain neutral) you could tell that Ian Wright was bursting to tell it how it was,but didn't dare to because he's on the BBC's payroll and knows that it's the only way he can make a real living . Meanwhile Gary Lineaker was biting his lip at the awful performance and Alan Shearer was livid, but didn't dare to speak the truth for fear that he may lose his position as a pundit.

It was clear that Scottish pundit Alan Hansen blatantly couldn't care less, I'm sure I saw a smirk from him in the after-match analysis. Hansen probably enjoyed England getting knocked out in the qualifying stages of the European Cup in the same way that the Scotland fan did who sat in the Croatian crowd parading his flag and his blind hate for the English.

Enough is enough, McClaren should quit from his post as England Manager. 2008 had promised so much for England fans and now we've got nothing to look forward to until 2010 (if we're lucky).

Earlier on yesterday, I had numerous conversations with football fans and we all agreed that the debut of Villa keeper Scott Carson was a ridiculous decision. Okay, so Robinson had made his mistakes, but why debut Carson in such an important match when he has never played for England before and he's only 22 years of age??!??!

Even David James would have been a better choice. It proved to be the wrong decision, as most of us knew it would be - Carson was all over the place and was not only at blame for the first goal, but his clumsiness spread doubt and nerves throughout the whole team.

To be fair it's not his fault, it's McClaren's fault for choosing him in such a crucial game!

I also don't understand why one of the most passionate England players, David Beckham, was left on the substitutes bench until we were 2-0 down! Why? Okay, so he plays in the US and he's lost a bit of his shine, but he's still as talented as any England player and he shows more passion then most of them put together. Lo and behold, he created Crouch's goal with a superb cross in the second half. He should have been on from the beginning.McClaren is an absolute idiot to leave him out in such an important match!

The fact is McClaren has made some awful decisions through this qualifying campaign. He shouldn't have been the manager in the first place as far as I'm concerned. The F.A didn't have the balls to hire someone who had passion or someone who would speak their mind, like McNeil. They wanted a weak 'yes' man like McClaren which they could use as their puppet.

The Croatian manager Sloan Bilic showed passion during the game, but McClaren stood there with his umbrella sheltering him from the rain like a loser throughout. What a wuss! He showed little passion and it reverberated around the team. It was revealed tonight that he won't quit as manager. Of course he won't. The right thing to do would be to admit he made the wrong decisions throughout the campaign and take a hike, but the fact is he'll make millions of pounds from hanging on as long as he can from a pay-off from the F.A. and he'll probably still walk straight into another job - possibly as Birmingham Manager.

Thanks for ruining our summer of football McClaren!

What has happened to football in this country?

UPDATE: 10.02am 22/11/2007 - McClaren has been sacked. Too late, the damage has been done.

I'm so annoyed tonight.

well…its the sun…so buckets of salt
I'm just in shock, can't sleep yet.

Macca is gone, maybe the Sun know for sure, maybe its just printing the obvious before it happens, but he will be sacked tomorrow.

Not only is the sporting summer now ruined, England are humiliated into the bargain.

Let in 3 at Wembley in a competative match.

Can't go through even after Israel do us a massive favour.

Keeper who should never have been playing was a disaster.

Played far too deep, as per usual, after we got back to 2-2.

Lowest point for English football for more than a decade.

Jose for England I say.
lets hope he has gone
I thought this was about F1 initially….
