Mixing it up

The HP Mini series has been expanded, with the HP Mini 210 so to be available in eye-watering preppy pink and soothing white crystal. The entry level Mini, the HP Mini 110 is also getting an upgrade, and will be featuring an integrated six-cell battery for 8 hours of battery power.

Not content with consumer releases, HP has also announced the release of its professional notebook line, the Probook, with various models each aimed at specific end-user needs and budgets. The HP 425 is the cheapest, with basic options and functions, up to the ProBook 6455b and 6555b series, using the latest VISION Pro technology from AMD, along with the ProBook 6450v and 6550b series, which features Intel vPro technology.

It's safe to say that HP has been gearing up for this launch a long time. The range of prices, specs and range of targeted end users shows HP is blanketing the market, hoping that its flexible and expansive product range will garner it enough of the market share. It has made sure there's also a good mix of both Intel and AMD-based PCs.

In the Probook S series, customers can choose between Phenom II, Turion II, Athlon II or AMD V-series processors as suits them. The higher end machines require the beefier Intel platform, but its good to see HP encouraging competition, even as it swamps the notebook market with similar sounding products.

Global SVP and GM of notebooks, Ted Clark, said: "Businesses and consumers can turn to HP not only for the deepest portfolio of notebook products, but also for a wide range of technology choices to meet specific mobile computing needs."

In the end, HP has delivered the consumer a plethora of choice this summer, and so numerous are their new models they will be hard to avoid. But with customisable graphics and personalised specs, all wrapped up in your choice of casing, maybe you won't want to.

Youtube video of the new models.

Some seriously nice looking notebooks here, love the brushed alloy look.
Any info on a release date in the UK ?
Heard 19th may for some of the models in the US, heard July for UK based models.
