Tomb Raider creators in turmoil
Following the news that SCi Entertainment Group PLC, the publisher behind a number of popular franchises, including Tomb Raide, Theif and Hitman, abandoned talks of a possible takeover last week, it has now been confirmed that the board of directors have today left the company.Jane Cavanagh, Bill Ennis and Rob Murphy have all quite their positions on the board with reports suggesting that shareholders had forced them out after they'd become disgruntled at them for not securing a sale of the company.
Cavanagh will be replaced by Phil Rogers, previously SCI’s chief financial officer.“Led by Phil, the Board has already commenced a root and branch review of the Company’s strategy and will report back to shareholders on our findings and recommendations within our clear timetable,” said the company in a statement.
The company also confirmed last week that four titles will be delayed, including Tomb Raider: Underworld, which is now planned for the end of 2008.
By the close of trading last week, SCI shares had fallen in London by 54% to 62p.
