HA-HAAARRR!

Relations between Intel and Apple don't appear to be as cosy as they used to be because this was also the week NVIDIA got to crow about the fact it has supplanted Intel as the provider of integrated graphics for the new generation of MacBooks. This should be the start of something new for NVIDIA.

Microsoft had a mixed week. It started by announcing anti-piracy day, but its message was in danger of being drowned out by the ironic cries of HA-HAAARRR! that accompanied it. The software giant then had to break with its "patch Tuesday" tradition and issue an impromptu patch to deal with some nasty bit of cyber-filth it had discovered.

Still, things ended on a high with the announcement that Bankageddon hadn't stopped Microsoft making huge mounds of cash once more. To finish off the week Microsoft also announced it was getting nice and open-source with its instant messaging efforts.

Of course the mainstream news was filled with further wailing and swooning over money, or lack of, but a few other technology companies, Apple in particular, still managed to grab some of what little is left and stave off ruin for another quarter.
