Left off the bit about “The first time I got slaped by a computer”

I was around 15 years old, when a friend and I were down Tottenham Court Road looking at all of the cool stuff in (among other places), Laskeys.

“Hey, look at this”, he said - pointing to one of the new fangled computers

On screen it was asking, “What is your name ?” (can anyone else feel an 'input A$ coming ?)

It followed that up with “What is your mum's name ?” (you can see it now - right ?)

Amazed to be interacting with something that appeared intelligent - I got slapped between the eyes when I hit <RETURN> and it executed its GOTO loop - complete with ‘heritage question’

:embarrassed:

Needless to say that my mate had WAY more money than me - and his parents had just bought him one…

…and I ended up getting arsemastered by his superior tech knowledge !

“Never again!” I vowed :wallbash:

In the (near 3 decades worth of) years that followed, Tottenham Court Road has changed beyond recognition…

…while remaining EXACTLY the same

If you want bargains, in London, 7 days a week - then this is still a great place to head

PLEASE READ

We really want to get hands on with what you guys (the HEXUS Massive) believe to be the greatest stores in the UK

Can't promise that we will be able to visit all of them - but if you have an absolutely ROCKING LOCAL STORE - then please let us know - HERE on the forums

It can be web based - but we always like to be able to get HANDS-ON with product where possible

Friendly, intelligent, knowledgable staff - with the patience of saints - is a defintite ‘MUST HAVE’

Pricing DOES NOT need to beat the WEB - just be competitive - we are sensible people who understand that superior service/better positioning/longer hours/weekend opening etc all need to be paid for

Life is not always about the lowest pricing - support and a caring approach is also vital - and that is why operations like SCAN continue to succeed in the face of stiff competition

If you know of a company, store, etailer that is exceptional - and should be given a bigger profile to the HEXUS Massive - PLEASE let us know !…
When i worked in a computer shop, it used to really annoy us when people came in and asked for a discound for cash. I used to give a discount for Switch/Solo transactions. 35p per transaction as opposed to 59p per £100 to bank the cash.

If shops are giving discount fr cash, you really have to wonder if all that cash is being put through the till.

Just my 2p :)
“if you make us moist” LOL, im quite looking forward to seeing inside yoyotech tbh, seen pics in custompc n quite like to see round it but london is to far :(.
Im guessing a PC World wont be featured in a vid then. :mexican:
A no-holds-barred, behind the scenes video of Overclockers would be fun, just to see if all the rumours from ex-employee's are true. :)
