3DMark 2001SE, 3DMark03

Gaming should fare well on the Scan system. It uses a Gainward GeForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MB that has the core pre-clocked to 500MHz.

That's up from the standard 475/906 clocks. Gainward's own product literature, here , seems to hint at a 1GHz memory clock. However there's enough different Gainward models to ensure that Scan's choice is a strictly OEM card, with 906MHz memory. MESH's system used a standard FX 5700 Ultra, so it will be interesting to see how gaming benchmarks play out. Run at 1280x1024x32.

As the Scan system uses an otherwise identical graphics card save for the 25MHz faster GPU, the reasoning for it slipping behind the MESH system lies with 3DMark 2001SE being a gaming benchmark that relies on card and system grunt. The Athlon 64 3200+ is an excellent gaming CPU, and it's extra oomph makes up for the slight lack in pixel-pushing power.

3DMark03, though, is far more sensitive to changes in GPU speed. The Scan system does well, but it can't match the Evesham and HEXUS comparison systems, as both run a Radeon 9800SE AIW. 3DMark03 build 340 has always been favourable to ATI cards.
