The sequential tests show that Crucial is able to max out the SATA interface when reading and get very close when writing. What this means in a real-world sense is that moving multi-GB files ought to be a breeze.

We set CrystalDiskMark to run the more stringent random 4K test, which involves moving lots of small files around as quickly as possible. Crucial generally matches the performance of the SK hynix drive, and the quoted figures are representative of most SATA-based SSDs.

Importantly for the target market, the 4K numbers, in particular, are leagues ahead of those produced by even the best mechanical drives.
