Layout and Features

The first thing that jumped out at me is that the board is a curious brown colouration. The general layout is good, the atx power connector close to the edge of the board, and the IDE connectors are low down on the board. The Dimm socket placement again is in the annoying position that make them nearly impossible to operate without the removing the AGP card.

So let's examine the board in more detail.

There looks to be plenty of space around the CPU socket to fit very large coolers, although my test used a standard retail cooler. Another feature is the very large passive Northbridge heatsink, this seems to be the norm for the latest chipsets as all the boards I have seen recently have the same.

The 2 DDR DIMM slots can take a maximum of 2GB of system memory. Remember though that if you want to take the memory out you'll more than likely need to remove the AGP card, as the locking tab will not fully extend with a large card in. Failing to close the tabs in empty Dimm slots *could* result in the AGP card snapping them.

The 6 PCI slots give plenty of upgradeability, and if you use the onboard features there is plenty of space to dissipate heat.
