Testing and Results

To test the overclocking of this board I put my 1Ghz TBird in and put the multiplier up to 12X multiplier and on to 100Mhz bus. On my ABIT this wouldn’t boot windows. I put on some silver paste and also the Hedgehog cooler. This was mounted in my Coolermaster ATCS310 case, which is designed for a server with all of its fans.

We got 1.2Ghz out of this motherboard, and this is a very respectable bit of overclocking. It wouldn’t boot at 12.5 multiplier but hey 200Mhz increase is great.

Motherboard Highest OC Speed 3DMark Score Sandra Score (Dhrystone)
Asus A7V 1050 5020 2850
ABIT KT7 1050 5134 2890
SOLTEK SL75KV2-X 1100 6382 3250

This motherboard is great! I think that ABIT and Asus need to watch out! IT gives all of the tweaks and changes in the bios, which any overclocker would need. Overall this motherboard has all of the performance you need and also it has the Multiplier adjustment via the dipswitches, and the UDMA 100 support via the VIA686B Chip. There is also support for 1.5GB Ram!

This is the board I would buy if I had to get one, it is designed for a power mad, Socket a users. With the AMD 760 DDR Motherboard and chipset being delayed then you need to buy a board to run this is what to get, With the need for new memory with the DDR rig then it may not be worth going for, but only time will tell. It has AGP Pro, and also UDMA 100 all of which one could love. The only thing I don’t love is the onboard sound, but saying that the onboard sound works and it is good.

I ran this board for 24 hours I used it like a normal system; I played my clan match (which we won!) I am also running windows 2000 which is known for getting BSOD. I ran the bios at optimum settings even when overclocked. And being a member of OcUKs seti team I am always running this.

I personally prefer the bios use for overclocking, but using the dipswitches was a nice change and it allowed me to see what I was doing, they are placed at the top of the board out of the way so there was no Problems with this, also there is a lot of voltage adjustments available. SO you can make sure you hit the right speed.
