Introduction

MSI P4N Diamond nForce4 SLI Intel Edition Mainboard

I took a look at NVIDIA's nForce4 SLI Intel Edition reference motherboard a while back and found it to be competitive against both its own nForce4 SLI AMD counterpart and Intel's i925XE/i955X chipsets. It was only a matter of time (isn't it always?) until the major motherboard manufacturers got a hold of it, wrapped it up in their own PCBs, added features galore, and offered you another motherboard to lust after.

MSI has been the first tier-1 manufacturer to answer our call for an Intel Edition nForce4 SLI-based board. There's two questions that really need answering, we feel. Firstly, how well does a retail nForce4 SLI Intel Edition motherboard fare against an established, top-of-the-line i925XE? Secondly, how well does SLI performance compare against NVIDIA's very own S939 nForce4 SLI?. It needs to be competitive on both fronts, so let's see just how promising MSI's P4N Diamond is.
