Review: Asus Prime X299-A

Core i9-7900X performance on the X299 platform has started to stabilise. We did see some head-scratching results on earlier BIOS versions, but Asus has quickly ironed out certain wrinkles and performance is excellent in all three CPU tests. The considerably cheaper Z270 remains an attractive platform for those who consider four cores and eight threads to be more than sufficient, but the 20-thread Core i9 sets a new standard in multi-threaded workloads.
