Cool lines

The DVD/CD combo-drive sits to the left of the last USB2.0 port which is positioned alongside the Wireless on/off switch. FireWire support is conspicuous by its absence. Zepto reckons that modem ports are pointless, inferred by not having supplied one, and we agree. Bluetooth is standard on this model.

Open the laptop up and the positioning of the six LEDs become apparent. The sheen-like finish extends to the interior and trackpad, too. A fingerprint reader is standard, too.

Take a closer look at the keys by clicking on the above picture and you'll notice that some are multi-language, encompassing umlauts and whatnot. They're slightly disconcerting if you tend to look at the keys as you type and we'd prefer an English-only keyboard.

The keys aren't covered by the soft-touch sheen that surrounds the chassis and are comfortable enough to type on. A little more travel and a few shortcut buttons would have been preferable.

The screen resolution can be specified at the time of purchase, up to 1,680x1,050. The graphics card, too, can be upgraded to a GeForce 9650M, but this will cost an additional £43.37. Our sample shipped with the higher-resolution screen that was one of the best we've seen thus far - clear, vivid, even and bright.

The panel may seem highly reflective judging by the above shot, but it's nowhere near as bad/good (delete as appropriate) as a few Sony and rock's, which just invite reflections and are difficult to see without diffused lighting.

Audiophiles may be disappointed to learn that the speakers' output resemble a Ā£300 notebook's, as no there's been no special focus on the audio side of thngs. They're tinny, bass-light, and distort at reasonably low volume.

There's not much in the way of extra software, and it's the usual 90-day Office trial and Bullguard anti-virus (trial, again).
