A look around

Sleek lines mark out the M720T chassis that's less than 12in wide. The sub-2kg weight ensures that it's comfortable enough to hold in one hand, but bear in mind that it's no netbook, either.

Build quality is decent enough, with no squeaks or loose bits of plastic. Not quite up to the avantgarde look of an HP Pavilion, sure, but it's no ugly duckling.

The chassis is available in three colours: gunmetal grey, black, and shocking pink, all at the same price, so there's something for everyone.

Four activity lights on the front show the usual activity options - DC power, battery, WiFi/Bluetooth, and 3.5G (if installed) -  and Clevo/Novatech adds in a S/PDIF-out along with headphone and microphone jacks.

The multicard reader is situated to the left but there's no laptop-mounted switch for toggling of WiFi connectivity; that needs to be done by shortcut keys.

A couple of USB2.0 ports are standard fare, just underneath the ExpressCard54 slot. VGA-out is handy, however.

There's nothing on the back because the screen's hinge slides on over when opened. Novatech bundles in a 35WHr battery with no obvious upgrade to an 8-cell, 65WHr model listed by Clevo, which would be perfect for the mobile warrior.

A 12.7mm optical drive is quiet when in use and can be swapped for a Blu-ray unit at the time of purchase. A solitary USB2.0 port lines up next to the modem's, and the visual tour underscores that there's no built-in FireWire support.

The Windows sticker sits on a removable section that can house a 3.5G adapter and an Intel Turbo Memory module, along with the system's 2.5in SATA hard drive. To the right, and under the bigger cover, is where the system RAM and CPU sit. Everything is pretty easy to get to and requires the removal of just a couple of screws.
