Intel's sub-30W CPUs remain rooted to a quad-core configuration, however Tiger Lake does bring a handful of noteworthy upgrades to the table. In addition to updated cores and larger L2 and L3 caches, the 11th Gen chips bring support for PCIe 4.0, ThunderBolt 4, faster DDR4 memory (4,266MHz) and Iris Xe graphics touting up to a 50 per cent increase in execution units.

Plenty of good and excellent single-thread performance guarantees a fast and responsive system, yet when it comes to heavy workloads there's no escaping the obvious; a quad-core Intel Core CPU is no match for an eight-core AMD Ryzen.
