The Core i7-8705G is fascinating due to the inclusion of onboard Radeon graphics. The CPU component, however, isn't quite so spectacular. Intel's processor uses a quad-core, octo-thread design based on the Kaby Lake architecture that is capable of base and boost clocks of 3.1GHz and 4.1GHz, respectively.

Such characteristics make it quick in single-threaded scenarios and capable when all threads are put to work, but CPUs have progressed in 2018 and it's a shame Intel didn't employ a six-core design borrowed from the newer Coffee Lake architecture. Core i7-8705G remains a fine chip, and Dell's implementation maintains consistent speeds of around 3.5GHz throughout the Handbrake test, but that's no match for having six physical cores.
