3DMark is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.

The Asus card is behind the Founders Edition in our first benchmark. What gives? The answer is that the FE card boosts like a banshee in this particular test, keeping close order with a watercooled GTX 1080 from Inno3D, but then its performance tails off as it reaches a thermal limit. Strix Gaming, on the other hand, offers far more predictable performance.

What's abundantly clear is that any GTX 1080 is in a different league to the AMD Radeon Fury X.
